I realize this is rather random, but in my mind it does follow some sort of logic, though perhaps not much of a linear path… but then I’ve never purported to be one of those if a, then b, kind of thinkers. Does this seem convoluted so far?
That’s precisely my point.
If you’re still with me, what I’m trying to say is that my recent detox experience got me thinking about not only what I put in my body, but also what I put on my body.
For instance, I took a look at what I’m using for lip balm right now. Most of my jars and tubes list petroleum as the primary ingredient. Isn’t that something you put in your car?
Even the ‘natural’ balms seem to have a lot of unpronounceable multi-syllabic chemical-sounding names followed by a minute amount of something good like honey or lavender. I’m guessing that since the ‘natural’ ingredient is last on the list, it merely lends a smell or two to make me think I’m doing something wonderful for my lips.
Our skin absorbs everything we apply to it. So, if I can’t eat it, why am I smearing it anywhere on my body?
Which is why I bring you this easy-to-make recipe for lip balm.
I’m putting the ingredients together in the next few days, cleaning out a little lip balm jar and filling it with my very own custom blend. I’m thinking a drop or two of an essential oil like orange or vanilla might be a yummy addition.
Consider this your early Christmas present.
I’ll take one pot of orangeflower-flavoured balm please. I expect it in my mailbox by Xmas, with a rainbow of post-its saying “this is what thoughtful looks like!”
P.S. Should I do a cleanse?
Indeed. I tend to embody thoughtful don’t you think? And yes, you should do a cleanse, you must be a toxic wasteland by now…
