The demands here in Puerto are endless, simply endless. The moment-by-moment decisions that need to be made can be grueling. We are simply doing our best to get through each day.
Really…what else can we do?
This morning for instance…should we have mango and bananas with yogurt and squeeze some oranges for their golden juice? Or should we have a soft-boiled egg and toast? Or all of the above? Should we sit on the balcony with Iggy the iguana for company or should we dine inside? Or maybe we should just finish our coffees and walk to a nearby cafe for a grande plate of huevos rancheros?
Should I have my shower before we walk on the beach or after? Do we have enough limes for our sunset margaritas under the rooftop palapa? Where should we have lunch? When should I book my massage? Will there be enough time between all this to just sit and read???
All I know is that I’m glad I don’t have another appointment today. Yesterday I had to be on time for yoga AND then get ready for my pedicure AND then we both had to be ready to meet Michele’s friends so we could eat freshly-caught shrimp and listen to some great live music at Arcis Restaurant.
It was a real bitch.
I believe I first heard the quote on Seinfeld, but it bears repeating…”stressless stress is the worst kind of stress.”
I know you feel my pain.
Sounds rough! The only antidote: Stay longer 🙂
Irene. That sounds like the perfect prescription. We’ve already decided that next time we visit will be for longer. Thanks for the antidote!
Nice touch. My wife and I have the same kind of stress in Puerto and we are on our 8th season here. Oh well.
8th season in Puerto?! I appreciate your support in acknowledging the profound adjustment life in Puerto demands.
You, better than most, understand how tough it has been…Gracias senor 🙂
I, too, find the pace really stressful at the condo. I never know if Iggy wants banana or mango and, when his “wife” shows up, mealtimes get even more hectic. Equally challenging is choosing which beach to visit…I often have to lie down to even think about it. You may have to extend your stay so you can get some down time. .
Michele. You’re so right about the whole Iggy and his wife feeding frenzy. That can take up so much of the morning. And yes, I find myself lying down just so I can cope! Clearly there is not enough time. Our social life here is bordering on frenetic.
Your life is rough! Too funny,
Hope tomorrow is an easier day!
Love the iguana too!
Cheers,
Laurie
Hola Laurie. Thank you for your sympathy but today is turning out to be much tougher already…I’d write more but I’m running late for yoga!!
Oh my gosh. That sounds horridly stressful. I think you need a personal assistant. Hey wait, I know one who is available. What did you say your address was?
Elinor, I wish it were so easy…but remember that ol’ adage about being careful what you wish for? This is a demanding schedule that not everyone can handle. If you’re still interested, I’m in Puerto Escondido. Not far 🙂
That Iggy is TOO cute!!
Hey Lesley, I think Iggy would be even cuter if he had a piercing and a tattoo. He’s already got the punk hair cut 🙂
