Summertime and the living is easy…
Why is that true?
Why do I find it easier to recline on a chaise lounge with a book when it’s summer? Conversely, why do I find it more difficult to do the same thing during the winter?
I mean seriously. Let’s be realistic. No matter what the barometric pressure, lounging during the day is lounging during the day.
What on earth does the weather have to do with it aside from a few extra layers of fleece and socks?
This is the extent of my big thoughts today. Not exactly War and Peace, existentialist angst or pondering the existence of God. Though to be fair, this morning I had the best conversation with my podiatrist while he was casting me for orthotics.
How was I to know that he had studied Philosophy & Religion at Yale? It is not every day you get to have your feet wrapped in plaster while you discuss sub-atomic theory and parallel lives…
However, aside from that lovely digression, I’m pretty much fixated on this lounging idea. I have decided it is my new ideal – independent of weather or seasons – to read during the day. It does not have to be reserved for night. Why not adopt the holiday attitude all year long?
Now, dining outside is a whole other matter. That really does seem to be limited to warmish air conditions.
And that is something to be indulged as much as possible. Doesn’t the food just look and taste better when you’re outdoors?
Wherever you find yourself, I hope you’re enjoying the summer. I highly recommend taking some time to hang out with a good book, lounge and wiggle your toes, and then later, have a few friends over for an outside dining experience.
Summertime. It’s a beautiful thing.
I love your life, I think I will just live vicariously through you! 🙂
Hey Laurie, I think your life sounds pretty grand all on its own! Love seeing your stained glass creations.
You’re right! Summer is far too short to miss any of it. I’m trying to write a book during summer which has proved to be quite challenging in view of recent computer problems and the amazing weather we’ve been having in MB. Enjoy!
Hey Doreen. I’d hate to hold up writerly production but maybe a few days doing absolutely nada might be just the ticket 🙂
