Yesterday was one of those days that felt like a few days rolled into one… The Innovative Fitness circuit training was a true sweat and great in a kill-yourself-workout kind of way. The Whistler snowshoe was a crunchy hike out in the fresh air, lunch was amazing, the spa treatment divine and then after a rest in the afternoon we headed out on a snowcat that drove us up the dark mountainside. The snow sparkled all the way up to our arrival at 6000 feet and our evening fondue at the Crystal Hut on the top of Blackcomb Mountain.
I think I dropped into my bed sometime after midnight, with a big fat (I think all that cheesy fondue pretty much cancelled out our grueling day of exercise) grin on my face.
This morning was a much gentler start to the day with a lovely yoga class at the Ashram Spa. Good thing it was gentle flow yoga because I think my quadriceps might have just snapped in two if she hadn’t eased us into things.
Plus, I got to hang out with some cool women, which is always a big bonus…Deana Lancaster from North Shore News, Sarah Bancroft from Vitamin Daily, Sonya Hwang from Ki Communications and Ann Campbell (fellow TMAC member and freelancer).
This was the perfect getaway. Nita Lake Lodge is an absolute gem and their food is truly some of the best I’ve ever had. In fact, Deana was positively delirious over her lunchtime Coq au Vin sandwich. She repeated variations on this quote throughout the rest of the day (and our cocktail-and-wine-enhanced evening) but to paraphrase, she said, “That sandwich changed my life.”
And now I’m back on the Sunshine Coast where I’ve watched the sun flame up the sky.
I’ve gone from the solid snow-silence of the mountains of this morning to the soft swell of the seaside tonight. What an amazing world.
Beautiful! It sounds like you hit all three levels – body mind and soul – no wonder it was such a memorable day 🙂
Thanks for this Janet. I hadn’t really thought of it that way, but that’s exactly what it was about. I put double happy face stickers on the last couple of days 🙂
