I am the Green Queen. Healthy eating doesn’t even begin to describe this new world order of my predetox diet.
I am flooding myself with close to 2L of water each day. I am down to one cappuccino with only two shots (instead of three), my wine glass is sitting in the corner collecting dust and I’m feeling kind of great.
And you know that adage about how your outside/exterior world reflects your inside/interior world? Well, every surface is dusted, the rugs have been beaten and the floors vacuumed. Now if I could just quit using my office floor as my filing system, there would be true order in my world, though I think I’m getting close to doing that too. Look out!
Now. Some might argue this is just my classic writerly avoidance but guess what?! I actually did some pretty grooving writing right after yesterday’s post. So wahoo…
I don’t want to lie and say that I’m at the 80% daily raw food component that Fresh Start suggests…but I think having a soft-boiled egg from our very own chickens, a piece of Squirrely toast made with no flour but tons of grains, and a smoothie for breakfast should count as entry into the Living Well hall of fame.
And so. Forthwith, my lablog healthy diet groovin’ smoothie recipe:
Mango juice to cover blender blades, 3/4 cup of frozen blueberries, freshly-picked beet leaves and Italian flat-leaf parsley ( indeed I did – in the pouring rain), one finely minced piece of dried mango, 1/4 of a fresh cantaloupe, a heaping tablespoon of freshly grated ginger, one frozen banana (here’s my lablog hint on those guys…freeze in skins, and leave out on counter for about 5 minutes while preparing the rest of the smoothie, it peels easily out of the skin that way) Frappe on turbo power, add a little water if it looks too thick and then one more blade-blast after adding a big scoop of ground flax).
This is good stuff. And the other good news is that this one turned out a more purpley colour, which is much more visually appealing than my previous Linda Blair Exorcist spew.
Not that I’m a visual person or anything, but viscous green liquid just isn’t something I usually drink.
I could be changing my mind though.
Hey Colleen- miss your whacky take on the various juice-capades we enjoyed/endured at the retreat. I’m back from a trip down South in Alabama.
Had to taste the local specialties – but have to admit it was a fryin’ shame- so back to soaking the nuts, drying the nuts, drinking the greens! Must say it made a difference in my vitality. Will put up my thoughts in detail on my blogsite in a few. Stay green! Hail to the queen!
Michelle
Just picked up your comment while standing in line at Costco to buy a Vitamix blender:)
I hope you have returned from your trip as in i must quote “Health tour” as you have mentioned it was from November 4 to 9th. So eagerly waiting for you whole experience out there……………..an expanded note would be appreciable so that a large group of people would be benefited. thanks and regards Cameroon…:)
Hey Cameroon,
I blogged about the experience on each of the days I was there, so please check my posts from last week. I willl likely write more about it again soon. I will have a newspaper article coming out in the new year as well. Take care.
I was waiting for your second piece on leading a healthy life and was happy after reading it. And ya thank you for the reply on my first post i really liked the points. Well I hope, i do not trouble you by starting the whole list of my queries?
So…. to start with, describing yourself as “green queen” are you seriously on green foods only? A bit confused on your outside/exterior theory…..will you be a little precise! Thanks a lot for the lablog healthy diet groovin’ smoothie recipe, this time no problem with the color as well as other combination. I would seriously like to follow it. With you may be I can change my mind as well….thank you once again.
Hey Cameroon.
No problem with the questions. I am not on a fully raw diet and won’t be until I go to the Fresh Start retreat. But I’m definitely eating more raw food, starting with the smoothies and focusing on lots of green salads and things like that. I do prefer most veggies cooked and I figure if I’m throwing lots in to my body that way, it’s all good too.
Ahh. The inside outside theory is that if, where you live is chaotic, dirty and disorganized, the odds are the person’s interior life is in disarray as well. So it feels like as I get more focused on being more aware of what I’m eating, it’s showing up in how I’m cleaning up my home environment as well. Hope that helps. I’ll be posting more on tthe subject when I go to the retreat on November 4-9th.. Good luck with everything.
