I am continually gobsmacked by the wonders of the internet. It is something I simply cannot get cynical about. It is so crazy that I can be connected to people from all over the world through our similar interests.
I wrote a posting a couple of days ago that went on (admittedly, a little too long, but still…) about my dream writing retreat.
Lo and behold, the cyberspace molecules parted and a woman named Gwen spoke through the firmament and added a comment that said, “Hey, check out this retreat.”
Actually, Gwen was a little more lyrical than that, but I looked at her site, put down my money & am now registered for a seaside writing retreat in Florida.
Just like that.
It takes place mid-October, just about the time when the heavens open up above our house and begin streaming non-stop rain and dreariness; about the time when the damp seeps deeply into my marrow and leaves me permanently encased in woollen socks and unflattering fleecy tops.
Not that the Florida sunshine and ocean-side gorgeous inn had anything to do with my decision…it was purely for literary reasons that I booked it.
Speaking of Florida sunshine. Whatever happened to Anita Bryant? And why was she famous anyway?
Linda and I are looking forward to meeting you! The weather will be perfect in Santa Rosa in October. A writing retreat by the sea will be the perfect way for you to treat yourself before winter sets in (and I know about those winters!).
See you soon!
