I just received an email from Nick Hangan. Like so many of the emails I’m getting these days, he is a total stranger to me.
This is what I find so fascinating about this cyber world. I’m guessing he found me through this blog or some link out in the travel writing world. He wrote to ask if I’d be interested in partnering with him to help develop some narrated city-walking tours for iPhone and iPad apps.
It sounds like a pretty cool idea, but I’m focused on different projects, so I gave it a pass…but for any writers who are reading right now, it might be a fun enterprise…
Here’s the website… Nick Hangan at GPSmyCity.com. There is a FAQ page and an author page that has most of the info you’d need.
The synchronicity of the next email’s arrival struck me as rather interesting. This one comes from another person I’ve never heard of, but after looking around his site, I think I can recommend him too.
His name is Ben Davies and he’s working on – you guessed it! – audio guides.
But this is for historic sites around the world. When I went on his site and listened to the sample it sounded very in-depth and like those hand-held device recordings that museums around the world hand out. The difference is that you can download these for yourself wherever you are, including a pdf print copy if you’re so inclined.
If you’re a fantastic historian and an expert on some iconic site, then I think Ben Davies would like to hear from you. www.iconicguides.com
