Alrighty then…my cranky knees and dirty laundry are the only reminders that I’ve just finished my cycling adventure.
I’ve quite literally switched gears.
We’ve been home from the airport for a few hours and now I”m reassessing what I packed for Taos, New Mexico and trying not to feel frantic.
The beautiful thing is, I think I still have too many post-cycling-adventure endorphins to worry too much about what I need to bring- or – for that matter – to worry much about anything at all.
I’ve got my passport, U.S. cash, eye mask, journal, a book and ear plugs…everything after that is a bonus.
If I find the batteries for my headlamp it would be lovely, but it won’t be the end of the world. I do find my headlamp to be a rather useful travel item, given that so many hotels believe in soft ambient lighting. Mood lighting is all very well if you’re looking for romance, but what if you just want to read a book?
There will be a little time in the morning (before we catch the ferry back to Vancouver) where I can scout out some batteries, pack up the laptop and wonder what I’ve forgotten.
Just have come back to my room after the dinner meeting with my group. I am unnerved by how many great writers are in one room. I’ve already bought too many books. I just love this idea of immersion in nothing but writing. I hope it’s something I will be able to ‘transport’ back home.
really looking forward to hearing of your experiences at the memoir retreat/workshop
