One of the fun things about doing this blog is going through my photos and having memories triggered as a result.
This photo was taken in front of Beatrix Potter’s house in the Lake District. I know I’ve written about her already but she really has captured my imagination. We were taken there by the British Tourism people, and quite frankly, I was thinking it was going to be kind of lame. Au contraire…
I discovered that Ms. Potter was one very happening woman who happened to be born into the wrong century -or maybe not. She certainly helped knock a little dust off all those Victorian stuffed shirts.
She pushed and drew and wrote her way out of all the boxes they tried to contain her in.
If you get a chance, watch Miss Potter with Rene Zellewegger. You’ll see what I mean…Ms. Potter was doing organic and sustainable farming and fending off development of the area around her farm, way before any of us had been born.
couldn’t agree more! We just talked about this film. Nice that you have been there, one of the things I would like to do some day.
regards,
Hansje
