In Slum Dog Millionare, our hero, the Mumbai slum dweller, answers some rather improbable questions.
But it turns out that everything he’d lived through had prepared him to play what became the ultimate Game of Life.
We are the sum of our experiences, but even more importantly, the sum of how we react to those experiences.
One person can go on the roller coaster and, as the little car rockets around the rails, pee themselves while having a heart attack. Meanwhile, the grinning-like-an-idiot person in the car in front of them will be yelling “Woo Hoo!!”
We (Kevin & I) have embarked on something rather new to us. From when I first moved out of home at 17-years old, and certainly since, I have never left a house/apartment or any other living place without knowing where my next home would be.
Our apartment was sold at noon yesterday.
We have no idea of where we will land. We have just started looking for a new place to rent or buy or occupy in the greater Vancouver area. The clock is ticking…
Unbeknownst to me, a recent experience of jumping off a cliff in South Africa, was preparing me for this next phase of Life. Nothing like flinging yourself off into the Unknown.
Remember that aforementioned idiot?
“Woo Hoo!!”
Such exciting times! I am reading a book right now called “Brainstorm” where the author talks about productively obsessing on the next big idea and how amazing that is for your psyche. Sounds like what you are going to be doing and i can’t wait to see how it all turns out.
Well Barb, I can honestly say that I was obsessing on this at about 3 a.m. this morning when I was thinking WTF?
Little details spring to mind, like WHERE ON EARTH will we go? Funny, how the morning switches everything back onto a more manageable plane.
Lovely song, I still love hearing it!
Good luck on your search,
you will find an amazing place;
It is waiting for you!
Thanks Laurie, I know you’re right. There is something wonderful waiting just for us. That song is timeless isn’t it?
Congratulations, Colleen! I hope you find someplace you love soon.
Wow, those black guys are goood! Even the white guy sounds black … goose bumps during “Homeless.”
You’ll land on your feet and keep on smiling. Should be interesting!
Martha, I’ve always loved this song…just feels a little more relevant all of a sudden! I’m excited to see what’s next.
