It’s official.
I booked it last week.
I’m flying to Mexico City, staying overnight and getting on the bus, Gus, and heading on up to San Miguel de Allende.
It’s all Michele Peterson’s fault. She emailed a while ago to say she was going & we could share a room. She knew I wouldn’t be able to say no.
I’ve looked at this conference over the years and thought it sounded like a fine, fine idea.
And now I’m going.
It’s a great impetus to get writing. Like really, really writing.
After all, I’ll be hanging out with Margaret Atwood. I’m sure Peggy will want to go for drinks or something so we can discuss the literary process. Yeh, yeh, that’s it. Me & Pegster, hanging poolside.
I’m sure that’s how it will go.
How wonderful to be in a new environment with highly motivated writers of all sizes and stripes, away from all the daily interruptions. It’s on my bucket list! So glad you get to go with Michelle! Just don’t get so much snorkage going on that you can’t concentrate, si?
But snorkage is key to a good trip 🙂 It is already very motivating as I’m trying to get this mess of documents wrestled into some sort of cohesion; a tad problematic but I’m definitely motivated!
I never heard of the place until I read Laura Fraser’s books last week! If you see her, tell her she has a fan in Central California! Looking forward to hearing about it afterward and seeing some photos.
Hey Jana, San Miguel is such a gorgeous little city. I was there about a dozen years ago with my husband. We drove around Mexico in our VW van and when we pulled into San Miguel, we took one look and went directly to the real estate office. Didn’t end up actually doing anything about it but it certainly caught our attention.
How exciting! I expect full, detailed reportage so I can live vicariously through you 🙂
Hey Becca, the conference really does look good, can’t wait to soak it all up.
I’ll do my best to offer a full report!
Very cool! And here I was excited about going to the Kachemak Bay Writers Conference in Homer, AK in June. Okay, I am, but it’s not nearly as exciting as Mexico.
Hey Sharry, Kachemak Bay sounds pretty darned groovy & exotic to me. I think ANY writing conference is exciting.
You lucky lucky girl, i have always wanted to go to San Miguel. One of these days……….
Make sure you take some time to be in Mexico City, it is fabulous.
Hey Barb, San Miguel is an amazing place. I’m really looking forward to it. I won’t have much time in Mexico City and I know I should…but it will have to wait for the next trip.
WOW!!!!
Hey Carol. I doubt Miz Atwood is actually AWARE that I’m in her plans:) Sounds good though eh?
