There are to-do lists on Post-It notes, on my iPhone, in my daily journal, mixed in with the grocery list and on my laptop.

Lists for things to complete around the house, lists of things to pack, lists of people to call, lists of queries to pitch, and somehow it will all be done and once we’re on the way to the U.K., whatever is not done…will simply remain undone.

I really must be getting old, and maybe just a titch wiser, because none of it feels particularly urgent. I am just systematically ticking things off and letting them take as long as they take. No rushing through phone calls. No scurrying about. Just tick and tick and check.

There’s still time for a walk, my journal, meditation or a yoga class.

For a brief moment this morning I was visited by a flutter of anxiety because we weren’t packed yet, but I really do believe that the impending deadline is the impetus to start the project and if I’m really packing light, well…how long could it possibly take?

But here’s the real wisdom part; I have turned down anything that doesn’t line up with what I’ve already committed myself to.
