“It’s where we go, and what we do when we get there, that tells us who we are.”
– Joyce Carol Oates
I am rushing around this morning and yes, it will sound lame when I tell you why…I had to get my journal pages written, my cappuccino drank and my smoothie made. I had to pack for my upcoming trip to Whistler and get dressed to blast out of here for our morning hike. And then…Horror of horrors, we won’t have time to stop for our after-hike coffee and muffin because I have to get showered and rush to my massage appointment. Then it’s back to Roberts Creek to pick up Yvonne in time for the ferry and our drive to Whistler. I figure I’ll buy my groceries on the other side of the water.
I knew I wouldn’t get much sympathy with this daunting schedule of indulgences..but it really doesn’t matter what we’re rushing for, we’re still in that state of checking off this thing to get to that thing and before you know it you have a huge long checked list and you don’t even know what you did.
So. I told myself to sit down. Write this and breathe deeply throughout. Check!
And I know you’re groaning at such a schedule of hiking, massages and fun, but trust me, it’s tough being not-retired. There’s always something 🙂
OMG can i relate. It kinda takes the fun of whatever you are rushing to, even it if an indulgence. Hope you have a great time in Whistler.
No kidding eh, Barb? It’s some sort of genetic coding soup that I’m trying to reprogram 🙂 Had a great weekend and did a wonderful bunch of nothing…
I’m always in a hurry..even when I don’t need to be. It’s a bad habit, and one I hope to break before the deterioration of age forces me to slow down!
I hope you have a delightful, non-hurried weekend 🙂
I know what you mean…it’s the default programming in my code. I’m working on rewiring my circuitry 🙂
