Follow This! Subscribing to Great Blogs

BC Ferries

In honour of Friday – and all things spectacular – I’ve decided to make a random list of some blogs I’ve found. There is no overarching theme (are you shocked?) Instead, it is just some sites I’ve either stumbled upon or that have been recommended to me. I hope you like them as much as I do.

If you have some other ideas that should be added to this list, please tell me about them in the comments or drop me a note.

First, I’d like to introduce Henrik Edberg from Sweden. After all, I think it’s important we all have international friends, non? His blog is called Positivity. I’ve mentioned it recently but it bears repeating. This guy does his homework. Dive in at random and I guarantee there will be something noteworth to inspire or motivate you.

I’m sure if you’re blogging you already know about this guy, but Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.Net has started yet another blog so it might be fun to watch that grow (it’s inevitable with him 🙂  Problogger is a great place to get your blogging questions answered, look for some freelance work or just generally be envious of how Darren has worked his butt off to make a great site and a pretty decent living to boot. Very inspirational and motivating, though often…just a titch (is that how you spell that?) defeating too.

I found Liz Arnold’s Homebodies blog today. I like the premise that she goes around and interviews people (either semi-famous or not) in their home. Wednesday’s post had a few pictures of the inside of Rolf Pott’s house which was kind of cool.

This is a quiet and beautiful blog written by Becca. Her tagline reads, “…an American woman looks at life in general and her own in particular.” The beauty is in the details and Becca has a way of focusing on those telling moments.

I’m kind of partial to this last blog…mainly because I got to meet Gwen in person when I went down to Florida to attend her Write by the Water retreat that she co-hosted with Linda Sands. She writes about writing, about family, about important things like how we spend our time and who we spend it with. My only criticism? I wish she lived down the street. Virtual is fine, but I prefer sitting on a porch with a glass of wine…

If you want to subscribe to these or any other blogs, you must first set up a FeedReader ccount. If, like me, it’s felt like just one more thing to learn and do, fear not. It’s not hard at all.

There are many Feed Reader accounts to choose from. The free ones from Google, Yahoo and many others work great. After you set up your account, just look for the RSS feed symbol…

title Free RSS Feed Icons, The Ultimate List

…on any blog, click it and it will end up in your Feed Reader eliminating the need for you to go visit your favourite places – instead they all come to you in one handy little pop-up place. I finally got my feed reader set up because my bookmarks were just getting a little too crowded 🙂

There is lots of great information on how to set this up but it really is this easy. Why did I wait so long?

Wow. Just saw this. Thank you for the include! I see porch-sitting in our future. I’ll bring the wine.
