The view out my window today is shades of lead, pewter, tin, nickel and maybe now and then, a little glint of silver.
In other words, it’s mostly metal. You know that kind of cold that only metal can take on? That chilly-dampness-into-the-bones feeling? That’s what I’m talking about.
It’s a day that begs for Caribbean sunshine. A day that says, Run to Hawaii as fast as you can.”
Or…maybe?
I can build a blazing fire, put up some lights to drive back the dark and be content with the safe cave that I’m in. I’ve decided that’s my choice today. Be okay with where I am and what I’m doing and that not every day can be aloha blue…nor do I want it to be.
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote the following:
“It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinions; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the Great Man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.”
Today I resolve to develop the perfect sweetness of my solitude.
