World Hum has listed their top 100 travel books of all time. I think I’ll keep that list handy for whenever I’m in the library or a bookstore.
Speaking of books, mine has still not written itself. What’s up with that?
Prior to book club last night, I checked out a few websites to find some background on Miriam Toews. In one interview they asked Ms. Toews for advice to writers.
Her answer? “Write.”
A startlingly brave and insightful answer yes? Also just a tad cheeky…but still. So I think I will take her advice.
I’m starting with this blog posting as a way to ease myself into the groove, next I will work on my ongoing battle with the St. Lucia article, then I’m working on my snyopsis and overview for the aforementioned unwritten book. In between, I’ll avoid anything that looks like writing by drinking cups of tea and running incredibly pressing errands.
I’m hoping that writing the snyopsis and overview will somehow make it something it is not. What it is right now is a gelatinous mass, a quivering mess, an unnatural blue Jello blob that will not stick to the wall, or get forced into a box or generally cooperate in any way.
I shall prevail.
