I’m not sure if it’s just my eyes or if it’s because I have built up no resistance to flourescent lights, but airports create a fuzzy shiny light on things that makes them appear slightly shimmery and altered.
Just to make sure I’m not losing my mind, I’ve bloged this by going outside, where I can immediately see fine. I think it’s a combination of my progressive lenses with the little transitional gradations of less-than-perfect focus and all this fake light.
It occurs to me that since quitting that office life over 14 years ago, I spend most of my life in real light. Granted, I spend lots of time in front of my screen at home, but that’s close focused work and the rest of the time is pretty much natural light.
I am so grateful that I don’t have to work in this kind of light. I think I can understand how those poor factory chickens must feel.
Can’t be good having all that light forcing you to produce…then again, maybe that’s what it feels like for all those people in flourescent-filled office towers.
