“An old racetrack joke reminds you that your program
contains all the winners’ names. I stare at my
typewriter keys with the same thought.”
~ Mignon McLaughlin
Did you laugh with recognition too? I just came across this quote on the newsletter from WorldwideFreelanceWriter.com. It’s funny in a sort of sad way.
My keyboard has every possible configuration waiting to reveal itself. Apparently I have to actually pick which letters belong together and then combine those resulting words into sentences, linking those groupings into paragraphs, all of which have to be heading in the same direction, with a resultant emotive outcome and push toward a plot.
But mostly? You just have to have faith that at some bodily level, it’s going to happen. I think I’m wishing for Tinkerbell again. TING! Oh there it is! The flashing wand sound…I’m going to flip open my word documents and begin.
Begin it now.
