This is the last stanza of a poem by Rumi…I respectfully submit that you could subsitute rose, or any other word you can come up with. to replace the word light and the poem would still remain utterly profound.
I love how he simply and clearly reveals the limitations of language and our ability to communicate.
It really is a rather endearing human trait that we continue to tap the cursor forward, scratch the ink on the page and wave our arms and talk and talk in our efforts to be understood and to understand.
In spite of these huge and obvious hurdles between our experience and what we actually communicate…we just keep trying.
Good for us I say.
And now…here’s Rumi…
“…The rest of this must be said in silence
because of the enormous difference
between light and the words
that try to say light.”
