Our friends rode down to meet our ferry from their temporary home in Powell River. Ray & Judy have been living in the old Powell River Townsite for the last month, and will be there another month, before they move back to their usual home in Yaletown…
Lucky for us, they let us use their great little house as our Tuesday night accommodation. This area is like a little Hooville version of an old- time vision of what a neighbourhood ‘should’ look like. It was built in the early 1900’s as the milltown for the then-newly built pulp mill. The entire area reminds me of a Universal movie set. Bring on the gaffers and dolly grips.
It’s such a cool little place and it got even better when their friends Elaine & Gray walked over for an amazing pasta dinner. Lots of wine, lots of laughs and legs that throbbed from the days 48-kilometre cycle.
The pancake breakfast feast was a great way to fire us up for the next assault up to Lund – where we finally hit the sun…though it just as quickly scurried behind some big bad nimbus – but – we really saw it.
It still exists. It is definitely out there. You just have to believe.
