Writing-World.com is a site I just discovered. I think it looks a little cheesy with the starry masthead and the endless ads, but posts like the one I’ve linked to here are good freelance writing resources…and really, what’s a few stars among friends?
The ideas aren’t necessarily things I’m going to follow up and do (though I might) but they might lead to other ways of thinking, and are a good reminder that the traditional model of endless queries and long editorial silences, is not necessarily the program one needs to be stuck with.
If nothing else, it’s encouragement to go shake it up and try something else.
In fact, my blog began because of some of that new thinking…I started this about a year ago, though prior to that, I did have a rather random system for a year or so, but it was sporadic at best. I read an article at the time that suggested one might try to be more consistent in their postings. Ahhhh….said I.
So. Now I’m trying to do at least 3 or 4 entries a week, and so far, I’m managing to pull it off. Tomorrow I’ll be in Vancouver for the BC Book Prize event at the Listel Hotel and I’ll be writing about that too.
My goal with each post is to either supply a link like the one above or to write about travel or writing or…
Hell, who am I kidding? It’s still just rather random stuff with odd bits of hopefully useful information, all combined with any of my photos that currently grabs me. It’s still a collage approach. The same one I bring to my life. Random bits of ephemera, chunks of sentences, a blob of paint, a piece of a branch, part of an idea, bits of text and voila…a wholly new creation.
Hey Ruth, thanks for your comment. You know, I think most of the time I’m writing these things as reminders to myself more than anything.
A good reminder to keep blogging. I’ve been negligent lately and need to catch up!
