I took this picture in Vancouver yesterday around noon. I was on my way to Maenam to meet Amy for lunch and was a little early. There was a man just in front of me with a good telephoto lens trying to capture the blossom-lined avenue as well.
I settled on this shot, just because it captured the blue of the skies so accurately.
We ate at the lovely Maenam, with the effusive staff ensuring that we enjoyed every mouthful. Pad thai, curried noodles and green papaya salad. Their menu descriptors were much more detailed but the results were the same….clean zingy tastes, great contrasting textures with the exact right level of heat as a strong undertone. All of it complemented by a perfumed jasmine green tea.
It was a big fat smile to walk all over the city in the non-stop Sunshine.
We finished up at Thomas Haas on 4th (near Larch). I only wish I could have stuffed one of his famous chocolates into my by now very-tight waistbanded belly. Instead, I had a creamy double-shot capuccino that rivalled any of my best Italian experiences. All in all it was a (Wait for it, but you knew this was coming right?) Gold-Medal Day.
