The day has finally cleared to blue skies with the odd fat cumulous. Considering the pounding rain and howling winds of last night, it’s nothing short of a miracle. It’s a good day to be heading in to Vancouver to check out the brouhaha (don’t you love that word?) surrounding the 2010 Olympics. The story I’m hearing is that everything has a million-hour line-up, but I think I just want to go feel the vibe of the city. I like the idea of it being full of life and excitement. That’s got to be worth the trip.
And the good news from my last posting…is that it DID get me writing. I’ve now edited the third chapter of what I refuse to call a book. If I call it a book, I’ll start panicking. I worked on that third section by changing the point of view in some parts. Of course, the resulting voice reads very differently and now, if the truth be known, I’m wondering if I should change it all back. Puh-leeze. It could drive one around and around a certain bend in the road.
Instead. I’ve decided to leave it alone and focus the rest of this morning, on the Hungarian cycling story I’m doing for Adventure Cyclist magazine. I’ve sent off the kayaking story for a different magazine (that at this point shall remain anonymous) and think that a visit to Vancouver will be just the ticket to give the whole mess a big break.
I’m spending the evening with a bunch of my cyclist-women friends and then tomorrow I’ll be having lunch at Maenam with Amy Rosen. I’ll report in on that later. It sounds like a great restaurant.
