Last week I added some links to my Articles page for this recently published article. I didn’t mention it here on my Home page because I ran out of time…

So tonight I thought it would not only be a chance to paste the link here for easy access -http://www.thenownewspaper.com/Norwegian+darkness+dogs+Omega/3040638/story.html - but decided it was also an opportunity to throw up a couple of photos from that trip…the one on the right is a picture of a building in one of the little ports we stopped at and the photo on the left is more fully-explained if you read the article linked above.

Granted, this is not my most flattering look, but how good can you look when you’re sporting a prison-orange survival suit?

Here’s my lablog travel article that ran through the Travel Writers’ Tales newspaper syndication. Read the story on this link for the Kamloops This Week newspaper.

This story also ran in the Prince George Free Press and will also be published in a few of the Vancouver area newspapers too.

I was on this cruise last March, right after the Baja kayaking trip. In fact, it was about 30 hours later that I was flying to Norway and I remember still being rather sick in the airport washroom in Oslo when I landed.

Trans-Atlantic flights to far-off places aren’t fun at the best of times, and trying to get over whatever debilitating sickness I’d picked up in the Baja at the same time…well… let’s just say it made the trip more interesting.

The good news was that the abrupt change in weather must have froze that bug in its tracks, because from that point on, I felt great.

Maybe that’s why I enjoyed the trip so much…

Waiting at the Dock

Waiting at the Dock

Not sure if it’s the cold winter wind that blew out of the southeast today or the fact that I was looking for gloves that I thought I’d put away for the winter, but I’m feeling rather wistful and nostalgic about that Norway trip. I’m realizing more and more, how much I enjoyed it all.  It was such a visual feast.

Floating in Fjords

Kevin and Sue were two of the other media people on my recent trip to Norway. They host both a radio and tv travel show. Here’s a recent clip from our arctic adventure.  It’s not clear in this video, but the diver is below us, gathering up the king crab. He brought the beasties up on the ice and then with us in the boat and back to their lodge on the banks of the fjord. They cooked them up and served them with one of the neverending variations of incredible Norwegian bread, that we found everywhere we went, and a heavenly garlic mayonnaise for dipping. ‘Twas divine.

And of course, after that we went dog sledding by full moon. Isn’t that what you always do when you go to Norway?

Onward to Mexico & Norway

Doing the last minute packing of my suitcase for our trip to Mexico. Our flight leaves at 6:30 a.m. (Yuk) so we need to sleep fast tonight to be up that early.  Testing out my winter boots in the apartment as I need to pack those up for Norway so everything’s ready to go when we get back in a week. I’ve been checking the weather in Norway and it doesn’t look too cold -2 to -12 C, though at the very northernmost cape point it looks pretty windswept and extremely cold.

I will have very little access to email while we’re kayaking and am looking forward to a break from my addiction. A little computer de-tox as it were…
