Walking & Traveling & Trips

Walk in Wales

There are a few trips in the works and now my time is being spent figuring out all the necessary details.

For instance, last night Kevin & I went online and really started looking at our Welsh trek of Offa’s Dyke Path that is coming up in September. Turns out it’s 285 kilometers (187 miles).

Hmmm….I swear I somehow missed that little detail. I’m sure I knew it and conveniently pushed it aside. Perhaps because Kevin keeps telling everyone it’s a stroll-ish thing. I’m thinking perhaps not so much.

After walking this morning, I swear my knees and bum ankle were probloging at the possibility of anything more intense. I had a subsequent talk with my body and explained that we were all in this together. Buck up, says I. Now my knees aren’t talking to me at all. Not sure if that’s a good thing or how it’s all going to go but Costco sells the jumbo-sized ibuprofen and I think that will be the most important thing in my backpack.

The most immediate trip is going to be a little easier on the body. We leave for Victoria this Friday morning and will be staying at the Inn at Laurel Point . I see martinis, a massage at the Empress Hotel and some lovely city strolls in my future. Sounds like the antithesis of that walk in the world of the Welsh.

And then I started looking at some ideas for my India trip and came across Global Freeloaders where you can bunk in with the locals. Maybe one should hang out with Vikram and his family in Delhi or Soj in Bangalore?  There are so many ways to approach any one destination.

And that is just one of the things I love about this traveling life. I can stay in a hostel, walk in a bog, cycle down a lane or stay in five-star luxury and I LOVE it all.
