Sechelt Sunshine & Ocean Waves

Forget what anybody told you about dates and times and how things work. There is no doubt that today, at least here on the Sunshine Coast,  is actually the first day of spring.

For the first time the breeze hinted at the warmth of summer hidden within and the sun was actually throwing a little warmth. The waves are sparkling brighter and yesterday the pod of dolphins that went by looked more peppy than the last bunch.  Yes, I realize that last one is a bit of a stretch, but truly, everything is bursting forth and busting out…even the chickens are running around faster, frantic in their quest for the perfect bug.

I went out for my first paddle on a dragon boat and got the full benefit of the spring day. What is it about being on the water that feels so great?  I know I’m spoiled with our ocean view every day but riding in the belly of the waves creates a different and more satisfying experience. Then again, they were handing out jelly beans so maybe that was it?

Now, I just need to keep up a steady intake of ibuprofen and everything should be fine. Who would have guessed that our little paddle would be such a workout?

There is one minor problem with this fantastic day – the last thing I want to do is sit in front of my screen and write – but it’s also the thing I want the most.  Maybe it’s time to apply the old adage of, ‘a little of this, than a little of that’.

Time too, to dust out the winter dirt from the art studio and get playing. It is definitely time to play in the sunshine.
