Fun Goals & Resolutions

Make It Fun

It is coming up to the New Year and the inevitable day of reckoning and resolutions.

Or, maybe not. Maybe you have the same motto as my husband; Just Say No to Resolutions!

Being rather fond of the Middle Way in all things, I’ve decided to come up with something slightly different this year. I will not get into the rather convoluted way that I arrived at this conclusion.

For instance, I will not wax on about the existential angst that filled my journal with the inevitable questions of why we’re here and what’s our purpose.  After all, everyone is still likely to be feeling thick and groggy from the eggnog and shortbread coma-inducing whammy…

So. Let’s skip all the righteous resolutions of losing weight and being magnificent. I do however, reserve my right to discuss those things in a later post.  For now, this is the one 2011 goal I have so far –   Make It Fun.

My girlfriend used to have a habit (I’m not sure if she still does but I shall be making inquiries) of sticking happy face stickers on any day that she assumed would likely be a fun event. If spontaneous fun somehow happened without her planning, she added another sticker on that date too.

Her goal was to have a certain number of happy face fun stickers each month.

The only question left to do with this goal is to quantify what number of stickers per month would be a reasonable goal?

And then I need to really think about what things I find fun…

What makes me laugh? Smile? Chuckle? Giggle? Pee my pants?

I’m not taking contentment or gratitude or satisfaction or any words in that category…Nope. I’m talking FUN. Ha! Ha! Fun!

I guess this goal creates a mini-goal..I’m adding happy face stickers on today’s to-do list.
